ACV Turmeric Citrus Tea

February 28, 2017 Brooke Lark

Perfect for hot days, or serve it chilled in the summer, this soothing ACV Turmeric tea is everything your body needs when trying to keep a cold away.

Last week, I asked the Bae if winter was over. The ground was soggy and brown, only the mountains remained snowcapped, we even pulled out our Mountain Bikes and rode the springtime trails.

He said, "it's not over until it's over."

And sure enough, we woke yesterday to a world of white, felt like we'd enclosed ourselves inside a snowglobe.

I had a whole slew of errands, all of which were tossed out the window. Because, really, when you wake to a white morning, sitting is the car isn't nearly as delightful as sitting inside the windows of your kitchen, watching the peaks of the neighbors house pile high with icy cotton.

So, I called it a day. Took off shoes. Slid on slippers. And stood in the kitchen, doing that thing I should do more often: asking myself what my body needed.

The answer: something soothing for sore throat and soul. (I've been fighting off the inklings of overtired and sick, so everything feels a little tender and needing of extra gentleness.)

Whenever I start feeling sniffly, I try to toss back a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar. But today, it sounded too harsh for my tummy.

So I stirred it together with citrus, honey and turmeric. A happy mixture.

When put together, the ingredients take on a whole new depth of flavor. Instead of feeling like I was drinking a health tonic, I felt like I was drinking a bright, tasty toddy.

(Side note: As you can see by the photo above, I've had to hang a list of my "menu hopes" on the kitchen cupboards, since I've been a naughty eater lately. That handwritten list is forcing me to remember what makes me feel happiest whence it goes into my gut)

Truly a beautiful way to wake up, this bright tea is chock full of all the good stuff, and all the yummy stuff, too.

Whether winter has returned to your neck of the woods, or you're simply looking for a simple way to knock back ACV in the morning, I think you'll find this recipe does both beautifully.

Happy Winter, You.
