In my brain, I'm a killer party host. The sort that spends weeks putting together menu's. Crafting creative ideas for my fur-wearing, purse-toting, heel-teetering guests, who all arrive in tiny black cocktail dresses and shit like that.
In real life, I'm far too frantic for such.
Even when I've planned a party one month in advance, I will still be driving to the store, sweaty and unshowered, frenetically pulling together some last-minute whim which struck me 8 minutes before said party is supposed to start.
It's the way of the creative, I suppose. Drives me crazy, but there it is. Nothing less than a personality transplant will turn me into a gracefully composed hostess. And such is life.
Thankfully, there are ideas such as these, which give me smidgens of hope for future hostessing elegance.
Two easy ingredients--both of which I almost always have, infused into one splendidly new and exciting idea, guaranteed to make the guests chitter all night about how Pinterest fabulous you are.
Tea-Infused Beer.
That's it! And it's totally a thing.
Take a tea bag, pop it into your beer, and justlikethat, you are practically DIY microbrewing a custom batch of hops for your humans. Only, it takes, like 4 minutes. And because you're really smart and awesome, you now have time to shower. And put on that little black dress. And remember to pop the beer glasses into the freezer an hour before the party. Which turns them all frosty, and makes the people oooh and ahhh bigger than they ever have.
Get used to it. You and I are just going to accept our awesomeness.
Even if it was a last-minute whim that brought us here five minutes before the party.
Tea-Infused Beer Cocktails
Pair this recipe with my Coconut Fried Chicken and Bacon Biscuit Waffles. It's a match made in wonderlandia. Which is totally a thing.
Servings 1 | 5 minutes
- 1 beer, chilled
- 2 tea bags (see flavor suggestions below)
Freeze a glass for 1 hour before serving. Add tea bag to glass, pour beer down the side of the glass, until glass is full. Allow bag to steep as you drink. No need to remove the bag, unless, of course, you want to.
FAVE FLAVORS:
In my experience, lighter beers work best with most teas. Darker beers pair nicely with chai and spicier teas. While there are dozens of great combos, here are three that I've tried and love:
- Session Pilsner with Ginger Tea
- Uinta Trader IPA with Chai Roobios Tea
- Red Rock Amber Ale with Vanilla Spice Tea
